Producer Responsibility Scheme on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment 「四電一腦」生產者責任計劃
The Producer Responsibility Scheme on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), or in short WPRS, has been implemented since August 1st, 2018. It covers air-conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, computers, printers, scanners and monitors (collectively referred to as regulated electrical equipment, or REE). The REE suppliers have to pay the recycling levy to the Environmental Protection Department directly. When the consumer buy a new REE product, the consumer can request the seller to collect their old REE for free.
