This map shows the distribution of confirmed H5-infected dead birds found within the territory of Hong Kong since 2008. As depicted by graduated colours, most of the birds were collected from the New Territories, especially along the coastlines. This phenomenon is different from that in 2006-2007, when a larger proportion were found in urban Kowloon and Hong Kong Island.

As shown by coloured symbols, two clusters of H5-infected dead birds were located in Lantau Island and Yuen Long. Most of the dead birds in the Yuen Long cluster were migratory birds found in the vicinity of Mai Po Nature Reserve. Along the north-western shores of Lantau Island, there was another cluster composed mainly of poultry. Overall, the natural landscape, human activities and direction of river flow might have explained the distribution and type of H5-infected dead birds in Hong Kong.

Data for the map were obtained from Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

地圖顯示自2008年於香港境內發現並確認感染H5病毒的死鳥分佈。依圖中顏色所示,確認感染H5病毒的死鳥多在新界沿岸被拾獲,其分佈有別於於2006至2007年期間在九龍或香港鳥等市區地方發現並確認感染H5病毒的死鳥。

依圖中顏色符號所示,確認感染H5病毒的死鳥集中於大嶼山及元朗兩區。在元朗區發現並確認感染H5病毒的死鳥多為候鳥,且大部分於米埔自然保護區附近被發現。而在大嶼山西北海岸線發現並確認感染H5病毒的死鳥多為家禽。從地圖所見,自然景觀、人為活動及水流方向均有機會影響確認感染H5病毒的死鳥分佈及其種類。
